Can I create my own Will online?

The simple answer is "yes" you can create a will online. Writing a Will with a lawyer will have a price attached to it and if you cannot afford this then it is certainly worth exploring alternative options for creating a Will.

A Will can be written by any person over the age of 18 who is of sound mind and memory and there are numerous websites that will assist you to make your own Will so why not give it a go and see what the outcome is. At the end of the day it only becomes valid if it is signed, dated and witnessed.

All countries have different laws relating to Wills and you must remember that a Will is a legal document that defines the transfer of your money and assets after you die so leaving a Will that is not recognised by the laws of that country will most likely be a waste of time.

To give you an example, the author of this FAQ needed to create a Will in Greece, Crete to be specific. The process was to go with the local lawyer to the Notary Public. Write the Will by hand, in person, sign the Will and get it stamped and witnessed by the Notary. There is only one copy of the Will and it is physically stored in Crete.
